Local insights, global reach: Your trusted advisor in Ireland

Alongside our affiliation with Transworld ,widely recognized as the world's largest business brokerage, I can bring a unique combination of hands-on business experience, financial understanding, and invaluable local market insight specific to Ireland. Having worked across finance, operations, and commercial roles, and having run my own businesses, I truly understand the day-to-day realities owners face – not just the theoretical aspects of selling a business.

This allows for informed conversations around profitability, cost structure, and what truly drives value, focusing on more than just the transaction itself. I also understand the Irish SME landscape, where many businesses are owner-managed, often without a clear succession plan, and many decisions blend personal and financial considerations. My approach to exit planning accounts for this context, helping owners meticulously plan timing, readiness, and positioning before entering the market. In essence, I don't just connect buyers; I empower owners to understand, prepare, and maximise the value of what they've built, reflecting the unique aspects of Irish business life.

Partnering with owner-managed Irish businesses

I thrive on working with owner-managed Irish businesses – typically founders or long-term owners who have meticulously built something solid over 10, 20, or even 30 years and are now contemplating their next chapter. Many of these owners aren't necessarily ready to sell immediately. What they truly seek is clarity: what their business is truly worth, how sellable it is, and the strategic steps they should take now to be in a stronger position in the future to maximise value.

The challenges I particularly enjoy is helping owners understand true business value, separating personal expectation from market reality, and preparing for exit by improving structure, profitability, and buyer appeal. Timing decisions, can be critical. whether to act now or plan over a longer horizon for instance. I also appreciate the need to  balance the personal side, as for many owners, their business is a significant part of their identity which can sometimes cloud expectations. I especially enjoy collaborating with owners who appreciate a practical, structured approach and welcome honest advice over mere sales pitches and promotional  jargon.

"Jim's deep understanding of the Irish market and practical approach were invaluable. He didn't just give us a valuation; he provided a clear roadmap for our future."
